Herbert Oliver Brayer (1913-) was an American historian during the twentieth century. An expert on the economic history of the American West, Brayer was born in Montreal, Canada and educated at the University of Southern California and the University of New Mexico. William Blackmore was a British entrepreneur who promoted British and Dutch investment in Southwestern land. He began his career as a representative of English mining interests in New Mexico after the Civil War. He developed investment ventures in Colorado and New Mexico.
